I’m a great fan of fish and chips. It’s the dish I missed most when I was living in Japan - to the extent that it was the first dish I savoured when I boarded the ferry to visit Busan, South Korea.
Normally, I am breathless from the deluge of parenting and teaching pressures, but since it is THE HOLIDAYS, I put in extra effort to head down to Lad & Co. at Tanglin Road. Redditors proclaim it to serve the best fish and chips in Singapore, so I was intrigued to find out whether it is really superior to my trusty fish and chips from Fish & Co.
My verdict? I loved that the batter was delightfully crunchy and chewy, without overpowering the fresh and tender skin. Its exquisite flavour was accentuated by the curry and spicy tartar sauces.
The meal was also made memorable by the atmospheric vibes. I closed my senses really hard and pretended that I was overseas. Actually, there are quiet places in Singapore; I just got to make the effort.
as a Brit, i haven't had fish and chips in probably over 20 years. still remember when it would be served in a newspaper as a kid.
it was always a super cheap, old school, fast food type thing, costs like 15 pounds in my hometown now. crazy. Then again, a big tastey is like 7 euro in my nearest mac Ds, so yeah
yo that was brit sentence if I've ever seen one
I paid about 15 euros for my fish n chips just now. Ya it’s expensive but worth the splurge haha
What’s your favourite Brit food? Shepherd’s pie?

I enjoyed fish and chips last week with @k00b at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant. It was pretty good!
Couldn't compare to my first fish and chips in Tramore, Ireland - made more special because I was 18 and traveling abroad
what a special dish, a fish and chips. The vibe of this spot looks excellent
Fried food is the tastiest category of food, and I love fish and chips.
Yay for chips, nay for fish.
I randomly had the best fish and chips in Berlin last year because it was raining heavily and we just settled for that shop in a train station instead of going where we wanted to go.
Want to go back to Berlin just for fish and chips now haha
I think it was this place.
