Me personally, I love calisthenics. And I cannot not do yoga. Also, I'm very much into music, including hip hop, trap, drum & bass. Attending to all those (and other) interests (and responsibilities) on a daily basis can be time-consuming or outright impossible. So, quite often, I like to mix stuff up. Not just to save time, obviously. But also because it's fun. And; mixing things you already know (to an extent, at least) into new combinations, is a lovely way to both:
  • feel somewhat competent and capable in your activity
  • feel the novelty of doing something completely (or at least somewhat) new
So, example: a combined yoga + pushup session to a Chase & Status track:
I also love the beach and hiking and sometimes will do yoga and/or pushup sessions while on the beach or on a hike, but haven't done that as much as I used to, honestly.
What are your unconventional exercise habits?
Barefoot walking
When I go to the gym, I cycle through all the weight machines and do as many reps as I can at whatever weight it was already on. I like the random variation from other gym goers. I also use them in whatever order they get freed up in. Again, more randomization.

Having no furniture and sleeping on the ground so I end up getting down and up from the floor 10+ times per day without having to plan for it.
I also prefer body powered travel over all other kinds - walking, biking, and I'd like to skateboard but I probably won't.

I'd like to skateboard but I probably won't.
Haha, love the honesty. I feel similar about surfing :) But IDK, I still feel like I might... someday, in the right place, with the right people.
I slept on a yoga mat for like 3 months straight at one point last year! I still do it from time to time but probably not as often as I should. For one, it was easier to wake up in the mornings (it's obviously not as comfortable laying there and getting cozy as in a bed) and I think it was probably good for my posture and back as well, although I don't think I had any real problems nor did I pay that much attention to those aspects.

I love surfing, but I until I can afford to permanently live on coast with great surfing, I don't want that kind of long distance relationship.

There is no limit of age to learn skateboard :

Skipping stretching.
I’m the only one who skips stretching, right???
reply
I started unconventional pull-up because my bar is not high enough
I pull up for 3 seconds then slowly lower myself (at least 3 seconds and go slower as you build strength)

Nice. From what I understand the negative/eccentric part of every exercise is super important. It's something I have to keep reminding myself of though, quicker and more "explosive" movements tend to come more naturally for most, I guess. Especially when training while listening to music... :)

I am doing this out of necessity because of interior dimension limitations

Love this! I’m kinda the same. I mix random stuff all the time. Sometimes I’ll do squats or pushups while waiting for my coffee to brew. Or shadowboxing while listening to drum & bass in my living room — neighbors probably think I’ve lost it. Also do walking lunges when grocery shopping if no one’s around (or sometimes even if they are). Gotta keep it interesting!
