- Why is "The Matrix" so popular in bitcoin culture?
In this thread of Bitcoin and Matrix memes we'll look at how some of the most iconic scenes translate perfectly into what's happening in the world today.
"You know something. What you know, you can't explain, but you feel it. You felt it your entire life. There's something wrong with the world. You don't know what, but it's there. Like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. ... Do you know what I'm talking about?"

Things in the world are increasingly making less and less sense, and bitcoiners believe the root of this imbalance is the perversion of incentives created by money printing and the centralization of power.

They lock us in our houses, feed us corn syrup and canola oil and harvest our energy through massive taxes and inflation.
They tell us what to think, what to inject in our bodies, what to wear on our face, how much carbon to use, what protests are ok and so on.
- But who exactly are "they"?
"The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television. ... It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth."
- They are a collection of perverse incentives that are created when the foundation of an economy is built on funny money.
What is a rational way to behave in a negative interest rate environment? What behaviors would you expect to see when there is no credible way to save money?
- "You have to understand. Most people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured and so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it."
Many of us dismissed #bitcoin at first, for the simple reason that we were not ready to be unplugged.
- But eventually, slowly but surely, modern day Morpheus' are unplugging people from their pods and showing them how deep the rabbit hole goes.

- So ok great, you follow the white rabbit into the world of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency.
You are excited to see how much money can be made, and looking at how much people who came before you have made.
- The thing is, you are still freshly unplugged from the Matrix and you don't know how it works.
For many first timers, this means jumping straight into Ponzis, scams and casinos.
Nobody makes the jump their first time.
- But you persist.
You intake incredible amounts of information from podcasts, books, meetups, telegram groups and of course Bitcoiner Twitter.
Eventually you're fully orange pilled, but the stains from The Matrix are still there.
- You're confident, full of knowledge and vitality, but short on wisdom.
You have not yet been humbled.
Maybe you over-extend with leverage, maybe you think you can day trade, maybe you sell everything you have and go all in...
- But without at least one cycle under your belt, you're missing out on all the lessons that can only be learned one way: the hard way.
For you see, even some people who call themselves bitcoiners don't really believe in the cause, they just want fiat gains for themselves.
- Maybe they host a popular show and invite @stablekwon and @muneeb and use Bitcoin's good name to print their own tokens to get your bitcoin.
Maybe they spend all year pumping @BlockFi and showing off their car they have off the interest.
Maybe they do both.
- And so, as was almost certain, a bear market would eventually arrive.
You read about them, heard about them, saw the price on the chart.
But you never experienced one first hand.
People around you getting rekt, everyone selling, even suicides.
Bear markets are real.
- Maybe you told yourself that since you follow very prominent analysts, many of which recently completed high school, that you'd be able to time this market.
Maybe you thought $29k was the absolute bottom, went all in and now wonder what went wrong.
- And so after a wild ride, you find yourself approaching a real bottom in Bitcoin for the first time.
And somehow, you're still alive. You're still here.
Congratulations, the Matrix no longer has you.
- No matter how many new alt coins come to market, how many services want you to be their yield, no matter how low or high bitcoin's price gets...
You easily tune it all out.
- In fact, it's possible to be so orange pilled you can destroy agents of the matrix with a few tweets.

- After enough stacking, you will acquire enough wealth and power that you can completely stop virtually any attack from the system.
You won't need their job.
You won't need their pension.
You won't need their credit scores.
You won't need them, period.
- In summary, to successfully exit The Matrix, you must:
✅Save your surplus in bitcoin, and don't use leverage. Dollar cost average.
"Stay humble, stack sats".
✅Hold your Bitcoin in cold storage, never with a custodian.
"Not your keys, not your coins".
