Bitcoin is awesome. It's a gift for mankind. It is in peoples own interest to learn about it. But the message won't reach them if you're dismissive and hateful.
Focus on Bitcoins advantages - they exceed Fiats disadvatages (Bitcoin fixes what's wrong with Fiat plus even more). Explain instead of being dismissive why FTX was the exact thing we are alarming about and not an argument against Bitcoin.
Being toxic about Bitcoin helps nobody. It does not help Bitcoins adoption, it does not help the people you're shitting on, it does not help yourself. Teaching people Bitcoins virtues helps society, it helps the people listening, it helps the Bitcoin ecosystem, it helps humankind.
Truth hurts.

The truth hurts, but I am not the one inflicting the pain, I am the one trying to help to overcome the pain.

Maximalists are toxic about shitcoins, not bitcoin.
reply
I can get behind that

Being toxic is just a narrative, are you toxic when you defend your property from someone trying to attack it? People who come with humility to bitcoin get treated really well, just like someone who steps onto your property with respect, if they come onto your property with malice its your duty to defend it
The only people who think bitcoiners are toxic are people who shil scams, or are looking to drag others into the scam with them, if caring about others wellbeing is toxic then so be it, name it what you will
Criminals thrive on the "understanding" of society, and look where that has got people in the fiat system, it hasn't done them any favours, having barriers, boundaries and laws is not toxic

I am a friendly maximalist.
There are moments in life, when it's good to strongly express something or even fight, eg. in defence against harm being done to us or others. But it still can and should be done in a respectful way. IMHO.
reply
Exactly my point. I am not the enemy, the challenge of overcoming the fiat-mindset is.

Nobody was really toxic about bitcoin besides a handful of thirsty bishes on twitter. The scammers who were pushing scams called the sane bitcoiners toxic for calling out their scam. "Toxic" maximalists have never been hateful to anyone and donate hours/days/years of their lives to help educate others.

Matt Hill said it well on that recent episode of bitcoin audible he appeared on (.https://fountain.fm/episode/11623147932). Be welcoming, the ' have fun staying poor' approach hurts adoption.

But sometimes we will need toxicity to heal the cancer. I don't think that is possible to fight the Fiat-Fraud with nice and friendly Bitcoin-maximalism. They are acting simply too brutal and too aggressive.

Went to a shitcoin meet up and was the exact opposite....let people speak gave truth and all I got in return was negativity 🙃 was pretty rude...but the thing is with bitcoin we can continue to kick the can down the road where the road for others ends...at points you do have to let that toxicity out just to point out the lies and deceptions that have been placed in the psyches of others...nobody said it would be easy and we too face this toxicity..what did come out of it was one lady heard me speaking reached out and is more interested in learning than being shilled to there is a difference 👌 the best article I've read is the remnant talks how Isaiah was sent to a city to tell the message and he asked God what if the people don't like it or I change it up God responded the message is supposed to be said how it was spoken the ones that are meant to hear the message will hear the message!

I think the world is transitioning from the industrial age to digital age, a process that involves a lot of creative destruction. Part of the destruction side of things is that a lot of people are, and will continue to, have their delusions shattered. If you love these people, you should tell them the truth about why. In turn many will hate you for it and think you are toxic regardless. So you might as well own it.

Hello sir, I'm a bitcoiner and people usually call me maxi beacuse I tell people not to use shitcoins, they usually feel attacked because we say what the project is: mostly scam projects in order to gain money for VCs. That's why we teach about bitcoin and encourage people not to fall in those shilly and shitty projects.
Use bitcoin, they say we're maxis because truth is raw and we don't promise big money or get-rich schemes, we offer censorship resistant money. So, allow me to ask and finish:
are we really the toxics ones?
reply
No, that does not count as toxic, you're just telling the truth
reply
Exactly, so in my view, being toxic is a way to say we have integrity. Besides, those who call us are the ones interested in promote their shitty projects.

Totally agree with OG. Maximalism is giving a very bad image of Bitcoin, both inside crypto and to the "outside" world.
