I think a lot of this is also driven by the price of eating out -- people still want to eat out because it's convenient and they're busy-- but if you can save 20% off the bill by not having to tip because you got takeout it goes a long way

Disposable income here is way down, costs up, and quality and service down. Tipping by default and with machines and before service is also an issue….
