It doesn't use a lightning channel at all, it uses boltz as a backend to recieve/send and converts it instantly to liquid btc, so everything is kept in L-BTC. If you are ok with the liquid tradeoffs it's actually a good solution, not for micro payments tho. Also its not as instant as lightning but pretty close.

Does it cause any of the same issues that other self-custodial lightning addresses have caused (risk of channel force closures)? Zeus’s implantation comes to mind. If not, how did Breez solve that?
