I remember when I first got into libertarianism and thinking Lew Rockwell's analogy of the state to the boogeyman was just ridiculous. As time goes by, though, his point seems more and more obvious.
Most of the state's power comes from voluntary compliance, which comes from believing the state can enforce its edicts. The fewer people comply voluntarily, the less power the state has and ultimately it has almost no power if people believe it doesn't.
This was Ron Paul's greatest point about the system and how we are entangled in and by it. After all, Lew Rockwell was Ron Paul's legislative assistant/advisor for so long that something really rubbed off. Of course, Lew Rockwell was also a partner with Rothbard in setting up the MIses Institute at Auburn.
Yes, the whole point is that they can do nothing without our *** CONSENT***. If we consent to our own slavery, what can you say? People are learning bit by bit, though. It is good that the satanists have to get our permission before they can harm us! You may not recognize it, but they tell us what they are going to do to us before they do it because it requires our consent to have it done to us.

What do you mean by requires our consent? Required by what rule set? Why wouldn't they skirt that edict if they're so evil?
reply
Rita universal law and karma require it.
