It was a beautiful morning with a bit of rain today and some old mates invited me to play a friendly Cricket match. At college I was considered a very good Cricket player, but today I was out on the first ball and a younger boy hit me out of the park on 3 consecutive balls. Someone yelled "the old man....." I wanted to yell back but I didn't and felt what if I'm retired early, I'm retired before I should. Am I old now? I'm now thirty seven!

We lost the match by a big margin.

Yeah, it's right that I haven't played a full Cricket match for at least a fifteen years. But it's what it is. I'm re-analysing the proverb — "Age is just a number."

No lol, they all got bigger and stronger way faster than me. One of the kids hut a 300lb bench in like 2.5 years of dedicated lifting. Took me almost 5 years.

kids are all juicing or on sarms now , they're on steroid tiktok from like age 15 and easily hop on sarms and stuff. so it is possible they have the illicit edge on you lol

🤕 it was too early especially back in those days!

I guess it's more common these days.

But is it really an indication for the arrival of old age??

Interestingly here in India it's believed the more receding hairline or baldness you have, the richer you are.

I don't celebrate Birthdays as is not a tradition in our family and it's often said and believed that this way we don't get old.

August 26 holds a special place in my heart. This is the birthday of my first ever girlfriend.

Mine was also sports related.

I've gotten weirdly better at basketball, as I've gotten older, but I'm just not quick enough anymore to defend teenagers and I started getting soft-tissue injuries pretty frequently.

Defense and hustle used to be what I relied on. Now I have to rely on shooting and passing.

I think you've summed up my weakness. My friends, all were so miserable in the game, are hopeful of improvement and proposed another match for tomorrow but till now 4 of them have already cancelled citing 'soreness' (one of them is I), though they are saying they'll definitely show up next week.

Mine too. Also most of my head and beard hair are white now.

But I think it's more of genetics or bathing with sodium water for most of my childhood and teenage.

However, they have now started to turn white very rapidly. Seems like within the last two years I've got more white hairs than in the rest of my entire life.

one for me is new Balance shoes being fashionable now, along with pulling up socks.

NBs were always the gay dad shoes, on par, or possibly worse than high-tec.

when i see that NBs are now popular it makes me feel like the world i knew is gone lol

You are as old as you feel. Embrace the aging process. Learn more and eat cleaner every year. I’m in my mid 40’s and am the strongest I’ve ever been, can still break 5:00 in the mile and feel awesome
