  1. Signal is fine for my uses
  2. I had a hard time getting people to use Signal. SimpleX would be starting over
  3. I'm not convinced SimpleX is better in any important ways.
  4. SimpleX does not solve any of the problems I outlined. If it does I'm all ears.
I like SimpleX. I have it installed and I hope it does well but its just still very early for them.
It has tradeoffs naturally, but I hate the idea of central server on signal and kyc phone required for registration. In regards to the other security problems it takes a huge effort to have people with graphene, calyx and etc...

Yeah, the central server is a thing but if you trust the encryption that really doesn't matter as much. If you've used SimpleX much you will see how it struggles by comparison not being centralized.
I don't think everyone needs to be on Graphene or Calyx but rather the whole idea of the phone being secure needs to be countered with some humility. I run Graphene and have run Calyx and I love them. Honestly with most people it would be a huge win for them to not reuse the same password everywhere, use a password manager, and Signal or SimpleX on iOS or Android. Baby steps.
Not giving apps access to their location, their contacts, their fill in the blank.

well I am more radical and will keep advising people to use simplex instead of signal, if they want to talk to me. And help those willing to install calyx, lineage and graphene.
