Is anyone else planning to buy El Salvador volcano bonds purely out of principle?
Long term I don't know if the El Salvador Bitcoin expert will prove to be a success. Maybe it's just a publicity stunt. Maybe it is just a warning shot to the IMF. Maybe it is sincere but too early. Or maybe it will be a great success. Who knows?
But as a bitcoiner I feel obliged to invest in the first nation state issued bonds backed by bitcoin, regardless if they are a shrewd investment or not.
I will be buying. Anyone else?
Cheers, GR
It's interesting, but I would wait for other developments

Honestly, no I don't. I think the plans they have for what they're going to do with the money will not return the money they're promising in their yield. I think Bitcoin city is foolish. I think the president should have talked to some advisors particularly Bitcoin policy groups. I think ASIC water heaters for each person living in El Salvador would have benefitted the population, secured the Bitcoin network, and got us much more excited than Bitcoin city.

I'm not really investing money right now, so not even really considering it.
I do remember when it was announced most of the financial analysis said on relative basis it'd be better to just have a diversified portfolio that included bitcoin to achieve the same risk/reward profile.
But I think these types of financial instruments aren't meant for retail. Just like corporate and sovereign bonds typically aren't meant for retail. My naive understanding is that they're meant for institutions with investment mandates and this is just a new exotic option.
If I had a lot of money to invest I'd consider it though. It'd be cool to be able to help El Salvador with its Bitcoin investments in any way.

Yeah I'm on the same page - it's fairly important that El Salvador wins hard. Everyone that's critical of the IMF / Klaus Schwab / WEF cronies should be supportive of volcano bonds in principle, even if they can't/don't purchase any.

The vulcano bonds could be a big game changer on bond markets. At least it could reveal the big fraud of how public death is financed by printing new money (debasement) and how it leads to higher Inflation rates at the cost of the people. But don't expect mainstream media to help revealing the big secret behind.

I wonder how they work, how much they pay out etc. But imagine investing in them at the same time BTC has bottomed. It would be a good investment. But lets see

Since these are sold through Bitfinex, and Bitfinex does not serve the U.S., ... looks like I will have to find another investment opportunity for my $100 -- the only cash I have remaining to invest in anything.
reply
"doesn't serve the US". I use it all the time. They may require KYC for these bonds though.

Q.) I am a U.S. Person. Can I open an account and trade on Bitfinex? A.) No U.S. Person may directly or indirectly use any of the Services or the Site. If you are a U.S. Person, you are strictly prohibited from opening an account on Bitfinex. For more information, please read our Terms of Service.
When they (are forced to) require you to do KYC, enjoy the long wait as your funds are stuck while they decide whether or not to eventually let you withdraw.
