China has won the trade war.
USA cannot build Apple Iphones...or anything much else for that matter.
China has methodically built a comprehensively integrated and highly competitive productive economy from the bottom up.
When the west imposed its will upon China from 1839 onwards with cannons and banks China was left in confusion and humiliation for many decades.
Finally during the 20th century China gradually regained its sovereignty and began the complex process of responding logically to western imperialism.
They learned how to reverse engineer the wests production technology, starting with basic products and working up the value chain methodically.
Today China owns and controls the supply chains for most manufactured goods and many strategic raw materials and their processing.
At the same time as China has done this the west lost the ability to build and produce most things- the west retreated into financialisation and abandoning engineering and production of real goods.
China could do it all cheaper.
China beat the west capitalism at its own game.
Now the west is highly vulnerable as China is logically seeking to build the tertiary levels of trade - banking, protocols, institutions and global infrastructure.
China is already providing Iran, Russia and N.Korea with trade and trade payments outside of the US USD SWIFT IMF hegemony.
The IMF BIS and other western organs of hegemony do not even know exactly how China does it...it is a shadow banking network completely outside of the surveillance and control of the west.
The Saudis have now signed up to BRICS and mBridge.
The petrodollar is facing its imminent demise and with it goes US global hegemony.
US exceptionalism blinded the US to the reality that trade dominance ultimately derives dominance over trade protocols and monetary systems and the US is now reliant upon its legacy USD hegemony but increasingly likely to lose that hegemony in the near future.

Will the American people learn any lessons from this? No. They will cry that the problem is capitalism and greed and that the government needs to punish Apple.

We are told the answer to every problem is "democracy" and by that they mean voting for experts to fix all our problems and put our full trust in the state.
And yet, the most democratic thing in this world is how the relatively free people in the US spend their money. People can choose to not buy from Apple, Walmart, and many other companies. These companies have grown because American's value saving a buck over pretty much everything. They want to get goods at the cheapest price possible. They do not want to pay more for goods to be built in the US.
Basically the average American is a spoiled brat that is being manipulated by politicians and made numb by corporations that rig the political system to un-level the playing field in their advantage.
