Phoenix works as an attached wallet? I was unaware of this. Its lightning address is experimental and when I tested it never worked.. but I'm curious about what you are talking about here.
Zeus uses hodl invoices for lighting addresses which people don't like (me included).

In my experience lightning addresses in general do not work well as an attached SN wallet

I mean... they do though? Lightning addresses have always worked for me...

Perhaps I should have emphasized it is my experience. I do recall @k00b saying there was an issue with using some LN addresses as an attached wallet too, but that was a while ago. Maybe things have improved.

Unless you're using ecash with Zeus, Zeus lightning addresses still require you to open the app to accept a zap.

Exactly. This is not a great UX IMO. Its fine, but not what I wanna do. I'd rather run my own server or use eCash.

Short of running a server... either it's custodial or an LSP (although Zeus 'is' a full node where you can open your own channels).
What will 'the masses' use in the future?

FWIW, I've been using eCash for a while. Switching back to my own node. I like to try stuff for a while regardless of what Darth says ;)
The funny thing is the reason I really went to eCash was because I could not get NWC to work on my node. Today it just worked... I have no idea what I was doing wrong or if it was an issue with Alby Hub or SN. I think it was with my node because I couldn't get Nostr apps to work with NWC either.

They do work but he was using Zeus which has hodl invoices which aren't super reliable in my experience.

May I ask... do you find that the payments just don't go through?

That's interesting. Its all I've used for receiving. Do you use NWC for receiving?

Yes. I had trouble with Zeus early on, and I think another one too. NWC has been best for me. I used LNC with lightning terminal for a while too, but that wasn't as reliable.

Zeus uses hodl invoices to avoid having to have a server online all the time. They are flakey in my experience as well. Coinos and Minibits work pretty well but they are custodial and have had issues from time to time with SN's throughput.
reply
Do you think they aren't paying out? Or you just can't redeem them (the invoices?) I was getting Brains payouts to a LNaddress, plus stacker news and aside from having to 'claim' once every 24 hours it worked OK. I wish i had 48 hours and the zeus app was quicker to load (although keeping it 'on' in the background may help too)

Failed payments was the issue I saw but I quit using it. I don't think Zeus is the best option for lighting addresses. Better if there is an always on server to handle payments.

LOL, in the early days I tested NWC and specifically Alby Hub on my node. It was failing. Now it works. Not sure what changed but it does work for both paying and receiving now.

I think I may have found a SN bug with LN address support.
