Brazil isn’t just about beaches, samba, and carnival it’s also home to some of the strangest UFO stories out there. If you’re into the paranormal, check out these cities where the skies seem a little too active.

Varginha (MG) Often called the “Brazilian Roswell,” this town made headlines in 1996 after locals reported seeing a strange creature and increased military activity. Some chalk it up to mass hysteria. Others aren’t so sure.

São Tomé das Letras (MG) Famous for its quartz-filled mountains and mystical energy, this town is full of stories about UFOs, disappearing hikers, and supposed interdimensional portals. Many locals insist the sky acts differently here.

Colares (PA) In the late 1970s, residents reported being attacked by strange lights that left burns and other physical effects. The military investigated, but their explanation never quite satisfied anyone. The case remains a mystery.
