CoinOS appears to have been down for hours so far (including the website). Lots of folks complaining on Nostr, and based on a comment the devs made yesterday, sounds like they've had some internet issues. Heads up for anyone using them for things (I say, as someone who has it as my default zapping wallet here).

A note on nostr said that they lost 24 hours worth of data and are trying to piece it back together. They don't know what anyone's balance is supposed to be, right now.

At least on screen, someone else’s corn is sitting in my account right now. I had about 2,000 sats sitting in there for Predyx spending. Everything is frozen but my landing screen says my balance is now 691,174 sats.

I had 100k sats on there. I should’ve withdrawn but I was about to pay our territory fee

Please everyone learn to self host your own lightning node. It's really not hard, you don't need a bitcoin fullnode to do it.
It's only hard if you want 100% uptime and want to route payments but for most users this is not necessary

I disagree, with fiber and a good UPS is really easy to have close to 100% uptime and with 10 channels of 500k opened on ln+ it's very hard not to route payments. It simply works. I am running one like this on a rpi4 that I installed using the raspibolt guide.

True. When I say easy I mean the bare minimum of "install software on your desktop and click to run" kinda easy

This is why we say custodial wallets are for pocket money, and small sum stacking before withdrawal
That said, I still personally still like Coinos a lot for what they offer, especially for merchants.

Shows one of the main issues in Lighting:
- no redundancy is possible
- most services are untested, or unreliable (CoinOs is one of the better ones , they had bad luck today).
- nostrplebs had also issues today, as was nostrcheck it wasn't a good day for LN
I stay more and more away from it tbh. Too complex, too unreliable still after 7 years.

By staying away do you use something else for payments instead (cashu, liquid) or you simply onchain when needed and do less small payments?

Coinos working fine now here in New Zealand.
Noticed the site/service down a few hours ago.
This is the first time Ive had any problem to connect in over a year.
Mot everyone has the time, skill and inclination to run their own LN node.
