Rogoff’s thesis is interesting, but honestly, I’m a little skeptical. The U.S. dollar has had its ups and downs, but it still holds its place like a heavyweight champ. Yeah, the fiscal deficit and rising interest rates aren’t ideal, but that’s kind of the story of the U.S. economy for decades. Sure, the Fed’s independence is being questioned, but that’s been a conversation forever. Unless we hit a major global crisis or war, it’s tough to see the dollar really losing its dominance. Still, worth watching if anything major shifts.

China dominates global trade supply chains. The global economic dominance the USA once enjoyed is now a thing of the past. Trump is well aware of the threat of mBridge even if most Americans are not.
