Ran Bitcoin Core on a fairly new iMac in ~2011. Let it mine for a day or two, not sure if it got lucky or not. "Powers that be will never allow this to get very far anyway", I thought as I turned it off.
Consistency matters. If took you 8 years to come back using bitcoin, it means you will never understand its power and/or usefulness. You are just a passenger without determination.
