From what I've read so far, funding cuts to universities generally come from either DEI research or USAID affiliated work.
Was "UT" (screw you Texas!), doing the most of that sort of work?

Read deeper. Beyond the narrative. Cuts are much deeper and broader than the admin wants you to know or believe. I work with defense researchers and they stopped our travel budgets.
And this is the real UT, University of Tennessee, which existed before Texas was a state!

I'm aware that internal federal budgets, including travel, are very restricted right now. I've also heard that grant renewals are being heavily delayed, regardless of research area, but I hadn't heard that they were being outright cancelled yet.
Almost all of my information is coming directly from people dealing with the feds on this stuff. I actually don't know much about what's being reported, other than what people share here.
