One of my Bitaxe Gammas tends to lock up after about 24 hours. By lockup, what I mean:
  • Stuck at the same hash rate: ~1.20 ts/h _ Logs: Unlike the other Bitaxes which continuously produce an asic result, this one gives a large block of characters followed by "dequed"
Things I've done to this Bitaxe
  • Zip tied a second Noctua 40mm back fan, and connected it via y-cable to the header via PCB (I don't think the wattage draw should be an issue, but maybe it's messing with something else?)
  • Replaced heatsink with Ice Tower & replaced thermal paste, of course.
  • Slightly overclocked-- running 625 @ 1150
  • Both ASIC temperature and voltage regulator are generally below 50 C.
What do you think can be the problem? Is it that second fan? I was running the stock fan as a second back fan without issues, but now I'm starting to think it is the back fan, not sure though.

Who are you mining with? Maybe also check the hash rate on the website.

Thanks for the tip. When I first experienced this issue, I switched from OCEAN to solo and still experienced the same issue.
I'm starting to think that it's the back fan...not so much the power draw, but maybe because I zip-tied causing a vibration issue....

What does the temperature readout show?

Both ASIC and VRM are generally under 50 C.

Try replacing the thermal paste on the asic. I just had a similar issue on an Ultra

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll need to go back and edit the original post to mention I did replace the heatsink with an Ice Tower and also new thermal paste to boot.
Thanks again for chiming in. :)

Did you try swapping power supplies to see if it follows the PSU?

Good call! I haven’t tried that!

What about updating to latest firmware?

I updated to 2.7… still the same issue :(
