The mayor of Istanbul has been in prison for 38 days. Reason: A new waterway is planned to be opened to carry natural gas from the Eastern Mediterranean to Europe. The Bosphorus Strait does not allow this to happen with international agreements. As a result, an artificial seaway is intended to be opened to Istanbul. (Trump is the owner of the project) This water channel, called Kanal Istanbul, will disrupt the natural balance and reduce Istanbul's drinkable water resources. This is what the Istanbul municipality and the people are against.
