The collapse of the Bloq and NDP parties handed the Liberals this victory. Those parties lost a combined 29 seats and almost all went to the Liberals. Most of the Conservative gains came from previous Liberal seats. If the other parties had performed as well as last election the Cons would have won a minority but would have been able to govern with an alliance with the Bloq.
