Holy crap! I expected the Liberals to win (thanks to Trump -- not sure I've ever seen an external head of state have this big an impact on an election anywhere), but this wasn't something I expected. Reminds me of Tom Daschle losing his Senate seat some twenty years back.

Many folks in Ottawa area are still mad at Pierre for supporting the truckers. They just saw it as a major inconvenience. I am surprised he lost his seat but there were whispers in the past couple weeks that it was in jeopardy.
You have to remember that most Canadians still believe the lies the mainstream media tells them and think Pierre supported a bunch of Nazis.

I'd figured that Ottawa would work like NY, and the more rural areas wouldn't be as likely to think that way, but I also didn't have that close a view of the protests and coverage.

Also have to factor that a lot of gov workers live in that area and Pierre was promising to slash spending and reduce size of gov.
