I want to know who would want to work or live in a building that was open to the elements for a decade. This seems to just be an extremely dangerous thing. Not sure why they wouldn’t just move to seal it up as is.
Granted it is China doing very very China things

Indeed... in California they are having some issues with their "high speed" rail project for the same reason. Partially completed structures that now need to be rebuilt... its such a joke.

Central planning... sadly the US does it as is the case in California. Honestly, its mostly a question of scale and hubris.

Imma throw the US a bone with the National Highway System and the economic boom that has created. I’m not sure I’d classify a Cali project like the high speed rail as central planning because the state is footing most of the bill. Which while still bad Government officials are closer to their constituents than Congress kinda like how even closer more are the local governments

Its about as central planned as you can get... its not like there were private companies trying to do it. Its not like there was massive demand. I've followed it for years. I disagree but my definition of central planning must be more broad than yours. If something isn't created by the market but instead by a government out of the blue I call that central planning.
Its not much different than the USSR deciding how many shoes to make. The state is deciding how much demand there is for this.

Yeah I guess working for Congress my view of central planning has dramatically changed to what the Federal Government orders but your thought process is for sure 100% correct to that’s just not the way I think of it off the top of my head.
How do you feel about the Texas Central? It’s mostly private but they are using eminent domain in some situations?

Over the last decade, the abandoned skyscrapers littering China’s skylines have become emblematic of the country’s real estate woes.
Even with all the trade surpluses they still struggle with construction abandonments
