BIP39 isn't included in Core for a reason, it shouldn't be your only backup.

There's plenty of heavy reading if you search, and you'll find there are different types of mnemonics beyond BIP39 to address different shortcomings.
Everything has tradeoffs relative to just encrypting your core wallet.dat file.
