Oh my bad I read your initial thing wrong!
Going back to Bush the only reason I kinda sorta give him a pass is because Congress gave him the pass and truly I think after 9/11 the Nation was panicked, scared, etc. it doesn’t make it right but given the general atmosphere I honestly think it could have been so much worse.
Obama took it way too far with killing the American citizen in a drone strike. Honestly with all the evidence they had I wish they would have gone in and extracted him and jailed him for life because that way he would suffer. The drone made it to easy.
With Trump I’ve been waiting to see how the Supreme Court stuff plays out as they issued him a sharp and united rebuke. That being said I haven’t been watching it to closely as I have been prepping for a Committee Markup and Hearing next Tuesday and Wednesday. Right now I’m actually at MIT on a staff del. So 100% that’s something I need to look into and get the updates of.
Trump seems to be following the Andrew Jackson path and possibly dabbling in the FDR way of doing things as well…
In summery I think if you are a known gang member we can expedite deportation or if your order have been issued.

I agree. Trump is following the FDR path but few call him out for doing it because people are blinded by the hero worship of FDR. He was a strong man like Trump. He as do most "great" presidents took huge liberties with the office abusing power over and over again. But... people like them so its OK.
I don't think most people care about due process as long as its not their personal rights being abused. But... that's not how it works. People are fine with a strong man as long as he's THEIR strong man. Not new, people should just be aware of what they actually value and believe. Not some lofty ideal that they claim to believe in.

Agreed with people saying oh well it’s my guy so it’s fine. It’s all about precedent and eventually it won’t be your guy and it’ll be to late

Exactly. The slow march to tyranny is paved with this stuff. People wanting to enforce their world view on others. Using the power of the state to do so. Almost always wrapped in virtue.
Its not a popular position but its mine. Both sides are hypocrites

I tend to label myself fiscally conservative but socially moderate because socially I just don’t think the government should be involved in stuff they are.
Some basic things like immunizations I am pro but within ya know logic. Esp as an immunocompromised person herd immunity is pretty big to me. Beyond that I tend to just say the government needs to leave people alone.

@Cje95 just trying to make people think. I know it really didn't occur to me until I heard someone point it out. One of the big problems in US politics is the neither side is really critical of themselves. I get why... but its how we get what we get.

Everyone, both sides, in today’s day and age publicly I don’t think can be…. If you look at Trump he silenced the outspoken and on the Dem side you have general chaos with no one stepping up because no one wants the blow back
