Does anyone here know if Canaan Avalon runs a pool? Also, do we know if they make their own chips? I know I can (and will) find this easily, but figured if somebody on sn already knew this kind of stuff about them, it’d be nice to get some more info on this company that seems to be unpopular with western/English speaking bitcoiners, but at a glance (to me) comes across as pretty different than the ever notorious Bitmain.
Their preset is f2pool

But do they run that pool? My nano 3 miners from them all came preset to braiins’ pool.

Hmmm.
Well both F2pool and Braiins use Antpools block template. But you should be able to configure it yourself to any pool you please.

Are you sure that f2pool uses antpool's template? Got any evidence?

That literally says that it makes their own templates?
Yet, the F2Pool templates show no similarity to any of the other pools. However, it is known that F2Pool runs its own nodes and builds its own block templates. It’s expected that F2Pool templates don’t match with, for example, AntPools templates.

Yeah, I was just curious if they run their own pool the way Bitmain does, but I guess it would make sense that if they’re slinging other folks’ pools, they must not.

Not if their default is F2pool.
Running a pool is a different business model to making hardware

Huh, I was just passing along what was on their website. I don't know who runs f2pool. It doesn't sound like it's their own pool though.
Nano 3 was my top choice for a starting miner, but they were either out of stock or the shipping fees were crazy (I don't remember now).
reply
Yeah, thanks for the heads up. It does sound like they aren’t affiliated with f2pool, which I see as a plus.
If you want one, I’m selling some of mine for $210 a piece plus shipping on eBay right now. I’d shoot you the sn discount if you want (make an offer I guess and we can figure out what we agree on). They are the nano 3 (4Th/s) and NOT the cooler nano 3s (6Th/s and more efficient) that came out a few months after I bought these though. They’re also louder than advertised and used, but with no noticeable wear. Hmmmm, I’m not really selling it well, but they’ve actually been really fun and good conversation pieces.
reply
Thanks for the offer. I'm not sure yet what direction I want to go next, though, and probably won't decide until closer to winter.
I'm leaning towards HeatBit, right now.
reply
Yeah, I really like the idea of the air purifier integration. Part of why I’m selling these guys right now is the impending four months of warm weather where their heat feature becomes a burden.

Are you on signal?
reply
Oh cool! Yeah, I’ll send you a primate zap with my signal info. I’ve got a couple of s9s too that I’ve modified a little bit if you are still into trying one of those too. They’re super loud and inefficient though. I’d recommend the nano 3 first.
Yh the Avalons are cool Just Ordered the Q, and it seems pretty cool.
Seen videos from others ordering the nano 3. I think their default pool is one of the chinese proxies. I intend to change that to Ocean.
reply
Oh man! Has that Q arrived yet? That just seems so awesome. It’s odd that this is the first of their home miners that they haven’t marketed as a space heater. It looks like it’s going to put out even more than the Nano Mini.
reply
It is. 90TH/s 16J/TH
Simple the most efficient home miners today
Ordered a couple, patiently waiting
reply
Keep us posted when you get ‘em! I’m psyched about it but am hoping to wait until fall to get any more miners.
