I resonant with this thinking in lightning, even though I know the goal is that we're supposed to get it to the point where people don't have to completely get it.
IMO, people currently using lightning or running nodes without understanding how it works or it's risks should really consider shutting down their nodes. I try to communicate this in the latest Citadel Dispatch: https://bitcointv.com/w/fXw6ueVidoifiy8YQN7Fyk

Awesome thread! Did a deeper dive into Taproot and Sigwit because of it...so much more to learn!
Also SO many idiots responding to her...must be annoying AF. Like do they not understand sarcasm and hyperbole?

Fun fact: Inability to pick up on sarcasm, hyperbole, and ironic humor is an early warning sign of Alzheimer's. Those people should get checked out.

I'm only into dark humor so I should be fine right?
My Dad always said, 'sarcasm is the highest form of intelligence.' Now that I'm older I think he was just justifying being an assh*le...

It's not like people understand the fiat currencies they currently use. As Bitcoin continues to become more user friendly, people will use it more.
The goal is for Bitcoin to displace fiat and improve the monetary landscape for everyone, not just the handful of people who are interested in how their money works.

I understand where Lyn is coming from nonetheless. The fact that people don't understand Bitcoin is the reason they are able to be scammed by shitcoins.
Every so called crypto is a set of rules and buying a so called crypto is a buy in to those set of rules. Buying into a set of rules you don't understand or put another way having your money at the whims of rules you don't know, is and should be a scary thought.
People need to understand that every "coin" is a completely different set of rules and does not work like Bitcoin. They need to understand that when we say something is a shitcoin, we mean that the rules of that so called coin, suck.
Right now they must think we're saying it to pump our bags. Especially since that's exactly what newbies are doing and exactly what every shitcoin scammer is doing.

Why do people hate twitter so much? It is undeniably the most bitcoin friendly social network out there

I can only speak for myself:
UX is complete garbage
Tells you to login after scrolling for 2 seconds, or you can't use it
Highly politicized
Highly negative for my mental health because of the content / rage
New guy (Musk) in charge trying to be the new slave master
Censoring / banning people
There's probably more but that's off the top of my head

Joking aside, I don’t see how it is worse than any other social media. Nitter is just sad. Using some unofficial APIs hoping daddy musk doesn’t shut them down.

There are hundreds of Nitter instances operating. Twitter would need to kill the API functions that Nitter uses to "shut them down".

That is exactly my point. Those hundreds of Nitter servers are utterly pointless when Twitter can just say “hey this app is stealing from us, turn that off.”

A lot, lot, LOT more than just Nitter uses Twitter's APIs.

Nothing wrong with owning what you can afford to lose, even if you don't understand it.
Besides, easy way to learn is to buy some and experiment.
