The Boston Marathon will be interesting to watch. Rory Linkletter is the fastest Puma athlete in the race, and has run 2:08 in an older carbon-plated shoe.
I'm optimistic that running records will continue improving at a fast rate through the rest of the decade, and I wouldn't be surprised if Puma's design really turns out to be a new innovation in supershoe design.
But it won't be easy to detect true signal from Rory's performance on Monday. There are so many variables that could make the race super slow or super fast, wind speed and direction being the biggest one (the course is point-to-point).
If he runs 2:06 or faster, I'd be very optimistic the shoes are giving him an advantage. Any slower, and I'd want to see a few other pros race in them before jumping to conclusions.
