That things always take longer than planned.
Moving some stuff from my current flat to the temporary condominium unit. Allocated about 30-45 mins because the unit is a stone’s throw away from my flat. But I didn’t anticipate this:
My book shelves couldn’t fit into the lift.
Not a biggie. I just had to place them vertically so that all my possessions could fit into the lift, but boy, was I rushing like mad. I had to pick up my kids, so I gave up the cold shower I desperately wanted after the move. Sigh.
But I still completed my task in the end. So, at least I didn’t have to pay $5 for picking up my kids late.
Thank God for small mercies!
That the feeling that people don't like you is probably just your imagination, and it's more accurate to say that other people aren't thinking about you at all

I feel this. Except that I am endowed with a thick skin and don’t care wtf people think of me. That’s why people often comment that I’m unorthodox

Surprising, should you pay $ 5 if you are late to pick up children at school? 😵‍💫

Well, if this fine isn’t imposed, parents will take advantage of the teachers’ goodwill. And the teachers will have to go home to their families late. I support this actually - money talks in Singapore

i constantly have to remind my wife to not take the trash bag out too early, because there is almost always more trash to take out.
reply
Oh I’m like your wife.
Why not just use another trash bag? (We recycle the plastic bags we get from buying takeout, stuff like that, so I don’t think I’m impacting the environment unnecessarily.)

"Always fight, never give up". It has happened to me several times that I have failed at the gate of opportunity...because I gave up... I want to change this, and that is why I am learning and working on it every day.

Learn before doing. Sometimes I try to do something by myself and it often works, but when it goes wrong this lesson comes to mind "why didn't I see it before I did it"

I’m the same!
These days, perhaps due to advancing age, I’m more patient and will read the manual/instructions first.

I even read my car's manual. lol

I understand this rationally but my reptilian mind keeps wondering just wtf will this all end?!

Every time I get cocky, life does a good job of reminding me that I shouldn't be.

Talking about life lessons, That's a deep one. Some lessons life seems to make us relearn again and again—like it's testing whether we really got the message. A few that come to mind:
  1. Letting go is hard, but necessary. Whether it's people, expectations, or control, clinging too tightly usually leads to pain.
  2. You can't pour from an empty cup. Self-care isn't selfish—it’s survival.
  3. Not everyone thinks like you do. People see the world through different lenses, and assuming otherwise leads to misunderstanding.
  4. Failure is part of progress. No matter how many times we tell ourselves it's okay to fail, it still stings when it happens—and still teaches us something new.
  5. Time is the most valuable currency. We waste it like it’s endless, then wish we had more.
  6. You can’t fix everything—or everyone. Sometimes all you can do is show up, and that's enough.
Which ones have you found yourself relearning lately?
