Over 10 years since I had alcohol. One of the best decisions I have ever made.

That’s awesome. What was the reason or key reasons for stopping? If you feel like sharing.
I haven’t had one since my brother inlaw wedding 1st February and I’m finding it hard with how ingrained drinking culture is embedded in Australia culture

A couple reasons. I was spending way too much time and money in the bar and it coincided with the time my wife and son were moving to Canada full time. The first four years of my son's life we used to split time between Canada and US and I would spend a lot of time home in Canada alone between their visits and my visits to US. I had a lot free time on my hands especially in the evenings so I used to hang out at the local bars with a few friends. Drinking and being away from my family made me kind of miserable so I would drink more. It became a bad habit that every night I wasn't in the US or they weren't in Canada I was in the bar from 10pm-2am. So one day I just decided to quit and I haven't had a drink since.

That’s great to have broken out of that habit! See how you ended up there as well being somewhere without the family is a real drag and drinking was your distraction. Well done on breaking free of it. Is there a strong drinking culture there? That if your not drinking it’s weird

It was odd at the beginning when I would spend time with friends, watch a game and not have a drink but it didn’t take too long to get used to.

I feel my circle is starting to accept it
