I'd be more interested in how often articles from predatory journals get covered in news outlets, since they usually have pretty distinguished sounding names.
Also, which is worse? A predatory pay to publish journal? Or a legitimate peer reviewed journal that ends up accepting hoax papers?

I do. But predators conferences and journals are pretty creative.
