Hello Stackers,
I was conversing with my wife over dinner and she asked me, "why do you stack?" and when it really boiled down to it my answer was "I don't know, because I don't like how it is and I hope for a different way".
Some context, we don't have kids, we may not ever have them.
So who are you leaving your legacy to? On the suggestion that BTC won't be mass adopted in our lifetime and BTC is for us to leave to our next generation... Why do you stack?
And a broader question, why do you invest in anything at all?
Appreciate your comments.

I don't like my time and energy stolen by those that operate or sit next to the money printer and to hopefully leave the world a better, more fairer place for my kids.
reply
Cos fuck em, that's why. Absolutely agree with this. Ruining lives to make another billion that they hardly even noticed was there.
reply
Don't forget to get angry at the people running the printers (central bankers) and the people providing the demand for running the printers (fiscally irresponsible governments) when you are getting mad at the people profiting off the running of the printers. All deserve blame.
reply
That's exactly for what I stack.

Sats are a tool to shape your current reality and future world you wish to live in.
I save in sats so they grow in value. Then I spend those sats to support the things I like and the people building the things I wish to exist in the world.

As good a reason as any.

To simultaneously fuck the system and make money. Win win.
If you factor in beating fools at the price they deserve, it’s win win win.
Shoutout to Michael Scott’s HR counseling to arrive at “win win win”

Soon as I heard about bitcoin (2017) i stacked...to hold my wealth directly. Now 8 years later am semi-retired living 100% on those stacked sats.
Did not think/expect it could happen but it did. Just wanted autonomy from rentseeking fiat debt slavery usury. cheers Satoshi.
Fuck the banks and the governments that they own - pretty much all of them.
Only stack if you want to be part of the peaceful revolution to create an alternative to the fiat debt slavery bankers cartel that (almost certainly) owns your government..

I truly wish I'd started when id first heard of it. (2010) But instead, I wasted a decade before beginning to stack.
I also have a burning hatred for banks and the predatory nature of our financial system.

I'm better in music and memes I guess.

Yeah, the continued devaluation of my spending power and return on energy (that's how I see my wages, I give them my time and energy and they give me wages).

The question that should be asked is...why isnt everyone stacking? Is it because we are early, or because people are just being ignorant of how superior bitcoin is to fiat?
reply
That's a great way to frame it. When I talked about it with my wife, she is so risk averse she wouldn't entertain the idea of sticking money in VOO 🤣🤣.
Hopefully one day I'll be able to help her understand that being risk averse is stacking Sats.
I think we're still early.
reply
You just have to frame the risk in the right way so that she understands. Its all about perspective.

I want my money to belong to me, if I need to say pretty please to send it or access it, if someone else can freeze it then it isn't mine - in a very real way it's my banks money that they decide to let me use.
reply
I agree wholely with that. I despise banks.

For similar reasons, for my lineage, but also because I'm sure that when needed, my pension, or what remains of it, won't be worth much...
reply
It's scary to think how little my pension could be worth, when I finally reach retirement. Hopefully my sats will supplement it nicely.
reply
For my early retirement and eventually to give to my kids
reply
Early retirement is kinda what I hope for, to be out of the rat race sooner than I would have otherwise been.
But like I mentioned, I don't have kids and may never have kids, so leaving any estate to anyone doesn't factor for me, but I respect that it's a big motivator for you.
reply
Early retirement would be enough? And you could plan for to to be used for anything you want as well if you have no kids to hand off to
reply
Yeah, being able to recoup some of time back would be fantastic. That's a really helpful outlook.

i like this clip from "In Time," which puts things into a greater perspective.

I remember this movie. It was really really impactful. I hadn't thought of sats that way.

It's strange to read a @Public_N_M_E post that isn't musical...
On the other hand, I also think my main reason for stacking is that I don't like wasting time, much less my effort or energy!!
So each SAT is a bit of my energy preserved in a very correct and satisfactory way... 🤠⚡🍊
reply
I love this... Each sat is a bit of my energy preserved. That's powerful, cheers Akg 👊

I stack because I love the project and everything it’s built on that makes it what it is. On top of that, it gives me something that’s truly mine, gives me sovereignty, and pushes me to seek more knowledge. I think it’s almost cliché at this point. And I’ll add that I’m also looking for stability for my virtual wealth.
reply
Yeah, I respect that. Sovereignty is something I think we all handed over under the guise of protection and ease... I'd like mine back.
reply
actually to think about it that is true it is an intriguing question but we stack to the point this habit taught us patience and to value small amount quality over time, also it is fun like to have some friends over and see who can stack more for the latest times. stay great dear plebs and stack sats

I totally agree with your answer to your wife cos I for one don't like the way things are and I pray for a better version of everything
