We are created to work. Not just to recite facts or chase comfort, but to labor with purpose. For your family, your neighbor, and the good of society. From the beginning of man onward, work was never a curse, it was a calling.
Yet today, we’ve traded that calling for comfort. Stats show 18–25 year olds are “happier,” yet test scores are dropping. How can you be happier while becoming dumber?
We’ve gotten it wrong. True joy doesn’t come from escaping labor, but embracing it. We were made to toil, build, serve, and grow in wisdom. Anything less is a cheap substitute.
Indeed, God created Adam to work and to keep the garden, in Genesis 2, before the fall of man and the effects of sin.
It was in Genesis 3, after Adam and Eve sinned, that the curse was laid upon man that would make work difficult.
