PSA for all noobs that don't know how LN works.

For Alby Hub users with a channel with The Megalith Node [small channels] -- this is node we offer as a public service to help onboard new node-runners onto lightning.
We discovered today that we have increasing technical challenges dealing with "offline" nodes -- these are nodes that might be running on a computer that is not online 24/7. Each "offline" node that we have a channel with increases the overall risk to our system, due to some limitations of the current Lightning implementations.
For this reason, we need to be more proactive in closing channels with "offline" nodes. Apologies if you find today that your channel with The Megalith Node [small channels] has closed... but wanted to post here to explain why this might have happened today.
NOTE: THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO MEGALITH LSP, WHERE WE GUARANTEE A 3-MONTH CHANNEL DURATION, EVEN IF YOUR NODE GOES OFFLINE.
Darth note: guys, if you open LN channels and don't use them frequently, better do not open at all. LN is NOT for holding long term, it is only for spending, moving funds all the time.
I had a channel with Zeus close on me the other day.

Thanks. It has been a few months open.

I have a pending close status with Megalith for more than 3 months and haven't found a way yet to manually close the channel.
Any ideas on how to do it?
I had a channel with this node. Fees were terrible. Then they closed their channel with me. But never had a failed payment. It’s a very well connected node

Be aware: they have many different nodes now, including Rizful node.
Fees were terrible
That's quite subjective. Each node runner is adjusting his fees depending on the traffic it gets. Most of them are adjusted for keeping alive the service. Did you tried to run a public node as a LSP and see how much it cost you to keep alive 100 private channels that barely move sats?
Public routing fees is pure free market environment. Very few node runners can afford to run full 0 fees routing, maybe only for their own private users, but not publicly.
I don't want to defend Megalith node, but I understand their policy because I know how is to run a public node.

Understood just for my set up that Channel made it expensive (relative to sats) to withdraw from strike
