Granted we kinda almost do have a drug war now with the cartels in Mexico… that’s been a rapidly heating up issue the last 2/3 years

The drug war is their name, not mine. And it did militarize the police over the past 40 years.

Prohibitions create black markets. Black markets reduce the marginal cost of violence. Politicians don't care about this even those that understand it though. Their livelihoods do not encourage problem solving.
