Honestly, this seems like a good thing?
The DOJ shutting down its NCET crypto ‘task force’ feels like a step back from the whole ‘regulation by enforcement’ approach...
Don’t get me wrong—actual scams and theft should still get wrecked, but a lot of their targets (privacy tools, open-source devs, etc.) were just low-hanging fruit for headlines anyways.
Fewer politically motivated prosecutions = less FUD chilling innovation.
Maybe now we can actually get clearer rules instead of this weird limbo where every dev or company has to worry about getting blindsided by a lawsuit.
Not saying the fight’s over, but if this means less pressure on legit projects, I’ll take it. Bullish long-term.
