Howdy stackers! UEFA Champions League is finally back. Tonight, first leg of Quarter-Finals commences with two attractive match-ups, which will kick off at 9:00 PM CET (If I get it right, it is 3:00 PM East Time in the US and Canada).
First of all, and the match that I will be watching, Real Madrid will seek their 34th time in semifinals against Arsenal in London. This means that the Spanish team has been able to qualify almost in half of the occasions (in a different format the first edition of the Champions League was in 1955). @grayruby has picked Arsenal for this round. It's a bold one considering the facts I mentioned before, though it looks a bit safer as the match will be played at the Emirates.
In the last four editions, Real Madrid has beaten an English club in the quarter-finals: Liverpool, Chelsea (twice) and Man City couldn't win the round. It might be different this time. Some Real Madrid fans are not happy with Vinicius, Ancelotti has been criticized recently, the team is still missing Toni Cross but.... at the end, is Real Madrid and is about Champions League.
In the other side, Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's coach, will try to lead their players to the 3rd semifinal in their history. The Spanish, who almost developed his entire career in the Premier League, has been leading the gunners for the last 6 seasons. He has been rebuilding the team and bringing back some great results. For third consecutive year, Arsenal is currently positioned second in the Premier League, though 9 points behind Liverpool, with only 8 matches to play. Hard job for the Odegaard, Saka et al, though this year it might be different.
The other match of the night will be Bayern Munich vs Inter. @Undisciplined and me are supporting Bayern. In my case , no safety net as I used the rebuy last week. I hope that Bayern's strike will continue: in the last 22 home matches in European contests, they have won 17 and drawn the other five. Bayern has reached semifinals in 21 occasions and Inter only 9 ( with 4 of them prior to 1970).
Two top strikers will try to score tonight, Harry Kane (Bayern) and Lautaro Martinez (Inter). Kane has scored 10 goals this season and it's only one goal behind Raphinha, who is the top scorer of the Champions League. Lautaro has managed to score just 6 goals this year, though it's almost half of the goals that Inter has scored since September.
I hope you enjoy tonight!
Tough Matchday! Just hoping for the best!
