My school has an Academy. It’s meant for students who have graduated but cannot qualify for higher institutions of learning. So, we have a work-study program for them. They go out for work 3 days per week and come back to school to brush up their skills for the remaining two. And I’m their English teacher.
Today, they received their workplace literacy and numeracy results - and some of them failed to make the cut for numeracy. So, I thought I would design something that would help them process their feelings.
I turned to Magic School AI to generate a text to suggest ways in which my students could cope with their disappointment. 7 students, 7 paragraphs. I gave each student a subheading and asked them to locate the relevant paragraph.
Got them to sit in a circle and share their subheading and paragraph
Got them to draw a disappointed face and another confident face before listing out the different coping mechanisms as listed in their respective paragraph
Consolidated the main ideas in the form of a text cohesion passage
I hope my students are feeling better about their results now!
How about you?

I had my first bill pass the House Floor! That was one of my goals for the year so to have already knocked it out is fantastic!

Thank you!!! It is by no means fancy or some crazy thing but it has the US National Labs and Private Industry work together on Pipelines R&D. Under the idea that we see okay with the pipeline infascturure the US has can we apply a coating or just straight up change what flows through it. A lot of them are oil and nat gas but could they run CO2 or Hydrogen. The minority was a huge fan of it as well because currently if we move to a new “green” energy system we would have to replace alllllll the pipelines in the US and they hate pipelines lol!

Ok, I've got a real one now.
Today, I had two pupils very pleased with themselves because of how they were able to get their portfolios completed in good order.
Normally, I set the expectation that these will take more time than they actually do. This preempts any sentiments of falsely held hope. These two in particular had been able to complete them within said time frame (one on the last day before her vacation).
Then, there was a third who was very proud to let me know they'd been working on their second book. He said he stays up late writing as he finds it hard to put it away unfinished (which I find so relatable).
