I don't think it's dumb. 
But the more important enhancement should be the discovery of result for those who habe voted. I mean if we can get a notification for the results after the poll has ended shall be a big one.

An idea occurred to me today. What if when making a poll post here on SN, the author could configure whether to hide the intermediate results of the poll until it’s completed (no longer accepting votes). I realize it somewhat already works this way for folks that haven’t voted. But once you have voted, you then see the breakdown of current results. 

It might be fun to hide it from everyone (including OP) until the poll is done. 

Is this dumb?
