The bitcoin network has casually been cranking out >1 zettahash for the last 10 hours. I remember how far off this milestone seemed just a few years ago, but it's already upon us.
The difficulty adjustment is also set to rise by 5.5% with the next difficult adjustment. Which of you have been plugging in miners?
Here's the hourly hashrate Sorry for the shitcoiny link, but it was the best real-time hashrate plot I could find - hourly stats updated with each block.
Yeah, seeing that 1 ZH mark hit so smoothly is a nice reminder of how far Bitcoin's come. What's interesting to me, though, is how quickly the network can handle this kind of load without much noise. It's almost like it’s built for this kind of growth.
I was talking to a couple of folks about the whole "difficulty adjustment" thing last week, and some of them were saying they’re not worried about miners dropping off as much with these adjustments. They think the rise in difficulty might actually keep a lot of smaller players in the game longer than people expect.
I’m just waiting for the day when the network handling over 1 ZH is the norm. Feels like we're getting closer, but for now, it's wild to see it happen in real-time!
I like to think it's all those bitaxes, braiins, and nanos plugging in, but probably not. My 3s is cranking away.
One can dream, right? I need to complete the set. =D

What a beauty
Hmm it could be a measurement fluke
Measuring global hashrate is an estimate based on block speed, let's see if it holds for multiple days
Also I don't see this reflected on the global hashrate graph @ hashrateindex.com
Yeah, their hashrate measurement is a moving average over several days. I'm sure there's randomness/noise when looking at the hourly data, but maintaining 1ZH for even half a day impresses me regardless.
Me me me me meee! Pick me!
