Amazon has put in a last-minute bid to acquire all of TikTok, the popular video app, as it approaches an April deadline to be separated from its Chinese owner or face a ban in the United States, according to three people familiar with the bid.
That will mark Amazon's entrance to the social medla which it had long sought after.

But Amazon would be the most high-profile bidder for the company, which has also attracted interest from the billionaire Frank McCourt as well as Jesse Tinsley, the founder of the payroll firm Employer.com. The buzz around the company has also invited a spate of last-minute offers. On Wednesday, a firm called Zoop, whose leaders include the founder of OnlyFans, the adult entertainment site, said that it submitted a bid for TikTok’s U.S. operations. Zoop said it was partnering with a cryptocurrency foundation on its plan and that it had been communicating with the White House.
Better Amazon than some 💩coin company tying it to a token.
