The amendment elevates Wisconsin’s photo ID requirement for voting from state law to constitutional status. The voter ID law, in place since 2011 and permanently implemented in 2016, will now be protected from potential court challenges.
Every state should have this. State issued ID cards are free here because otherwise it would be considered a "tax on voting" but honestly, if I'm forced to pay for anything, voting security is probably on the top of that list.
Furthermore, most people pay for a drivers license anyhow, so the amount of ID's issued specifically for voting is extremely small.
