TollGate (tollgate-os) v0.0.1 (Pre-release) is out!
How-to evaluate (though, more comprehensive install instructions are found in the Release):
1.) Get a currently-supported router (currently just gl.iNet routers: GL-AR300M (or GL-AR300M16), GL-MT3000, or GL-MT6000)
2.) Connect it to the Internet (either Ethernet to WAN port, or connect via Wi-Fi)
3.) SSH into it, and download the firmware bin (see Assets section of the Release Page)
4.) sysupgrade then reboot
On restart, connecting to it from phone, laptop, etc., to its Tollgate-Setup Wi-Fi SSID but access will cost you -- payment info on the captive portal page. Pay with an eCash wallet with funds from mint.minibits.cash (I used Nutstash)
This is pre-release ...., so it has a hard-coded (fixed) cost (5 sats/minute), but an adjustable fee rate feature is coming. Tokens (revenue earned) are saved in the / (root), and no wallet, transfer method, or anything for you -- as the operator of this hotspot, to easily redeem the revenue (i.e., it's a manual process, currently, until that feature is built). See the Roadmap for more on where TollGate (including firmware and client App) is headed.
Also, TollGate was one of the projects just awarded a grant from the Human Rights Foundation.
