As of Feb 1, 2024, the Lightning wallet in Exodus is no longer available for US customers. Lightning wallets in Exodus are provided by custodial third-party API provider Wallet of Satoshi, which announced they no longer serve US customers.
I've heard of companies specifically staying away from lightning due to them making their money from paying the onchain fees.
There's even more to be made in routing.
In this case they never had Lightning in the first place, they're just done pretending.
