Yes, this is Jacobin Magazine -- a literal Socialist magazine -- saying that the Le Pen ban is bad. Obviously, they come at it from a perspective that I don't think any bitcoiners share (I know there are liberal bitcoiners, but I don't think any are actually full-fledged socialists, almost by definition), but it reaffirms how bad an idea this is no matter what you think if Le Pen.
It's difficult to politically pigeonhole this new class of wannabe tyrants that thinks they are better and smarter than everyone else so they need to exert control over other's decisions. Mark Carney is one. He wrote about it in his book Values.
Because their ideology isn't easily identifiable it makes it hard for the masses to comprehend the risk in giving these people power.
Explaining the depth and nuance of someone who believes government should have pandemic style power to make better decisions for the citizens than they can for themselves is not as easy as saying they are a socialist or far right or wall st puppet etc.

This is very true. For many years the politicians in the west have ran out of ideas and no longer really hold to these ideologies. I think this is largely due to the failure of the ideologies to solve the problems of our day and the past. Yet, the media still calls people by these names in an attempt to discredit them... I guess. I doubt it is working as well as they think it is.
Think of all the people calling Musk a Nazi. Honestly, I don't know what Musk is but the Nazi label isn't helpful. It is simply a slur. One problem is that people think in very simplistic ways. Someone could be an old school democrat or republican and still be a tyrant. Look what happened during Covid. The systems we have build as societies are the true tyranny.
Yes, Trump is pushing the edges to get done what he wants to get done but the system isn't gonna sit quietly by and do nothing. There is a war happening and these slurs like Nazi and Commie aren't helpful.
It is wild why people think Musk is terrible. Its often boils down to they don't like what he's doing. Never mind the fact that the President put him in the place and the citizens and their "representatives" have allowed the executive branch to expand its power and influence for decades. I suspect when Trumps crew leaves we will see the same sort of executive power used to swing things back in the old direction or many a worse direction.

Sadly most voters don’t think more deeply or do more research than parroting the standard labels which is why they work. But maybe they are losing their power.

Same is happening in Brazil with Bolsonaro
Even the leader of a communist party (Rui Pimenta - PCO) is saying it is a bad thing

Far right, far left… you see?

This is not surprising. The FN/RN political party is a creation of the French socialist party, to consolidate its grip on power. Le Pen, father and daughter, have always been used by the establishment to the point where some people think that there is a tacit agreement between both parties. The RN now becoming more centrist under Marine's leadership makes it more dangerous to the establishment, which probably justifies her sentence...

As an American that views all governments as illegitimate and believes in human liberty it is hard for me to listen to any news from Europe and believe it at face value. Any political movement to the right of Bill Clinton is called far right or worse. It seems to me that many European countries are slowly rolling into left-wing authoritarianism. Obviously there are nationalists movements gaining ground that are not from the left and this is further evidence of how far left the culture has moved. How tired many Europeans are of the EU and its policies. All that said, its hard for me to think I actually understand what is going on when I get the feeling I'm being BS'd all the time by the European establishment. Much like the US establishment they have lost all credibility.
