I kind of mentioned that I was suffering from a few minor aches and injuries in last week's Lazybones (#928767). What I thought was soreness in my right external oblique I've now located being pain in the muscles and/or bone of the rib cage — fifth/sixth from the bottom.
Today I asked Chat about it, because why not?
This is what I got:
Judo throws can definitely lead to rib soreness, even if you don’t feel an impact right away. If it’s from that, it could be a mild rib bruise or muscle strain from the way you landed. If it’s not getting worse and there’s no sharp pain with normal breathing, it’s probably not a fracture. Just be cautious with core-heavy movements for a bit, and maybe modify training if it keeps bothering you.
Intercostal muscle strain – If you’ve been doing a lot of pushups or situps, you might have strained the muscles between your ribs. These can take a while to heal and hurt more with deep breathing or core engagement.
For that last one, I'm gonna defer to @Kontext... this is something you know about?
for the rest of ya'lls, any workout routine suggestions for me? Since pushups, and most core-heavy yoga is out, what's a crippled guy to do?!
