Lack of high paying jobs. There are a lot of service jobs in the area because it is a resort town and there are a lot of good jobs for skilled trades but not much else.
Not such a big deal for my wife and I but as the town grows I hope the job prospects improve for younger people (namely my kids) so they don't have to flee to the city. Remote work for the win.
Yes, I am selfish, I want my kids to stay in a small town with me forever and not experience the world. Haha

The lack of big trees is a big one for me. It sucks that there aren’t many tree species that do well with the heat and humidity.
There’s also an unproductive drinking/party culture here that I find really annoying. Meaning the work/party balance seems kind of off to me but it might just be the bachelor/bachelorette tourism.

Lack of big trees is mine, too. We have big trees in the area, but these newer developments clearcut everything before building. Our house is old enough that we have some nice trees, but most of the neighborhood doesn't.

My neighbours.
The owners of each house across street from us are nice enough. They are each independently wealthy, and each have their garages set up as man caves. They are out there from 9:00 am until 1:00 am, 365 days a year, whether it’s -30°C or 30°C. Watching TV, listening to tunes, running their Harleys and sports cars, drinking, getting high, carrying on. Their respective buddies show up whenever their wives kick them out for the day. I cannot leave the front of my house without engaging. They’ll see me walking my dog and tag along. I could be leaving for work and they’ll just stand behind my car yammering on.

Taxes. Corruption. people who only care about frivolities, don't like deeper or more educational content.
0 sats \ 0 replies \ @stack_harder 30 Mar
easy one here and it's people's mistreatment of animals and often needless cruelty/neglect (ie, getting a dog and leaving in on a short chain outside all day).
There's no logic to it even, like if you wanted a guard dog, it's on a chain, it couldn't get a thief if it wanted to.
