I think I'd like to try my hand at a bit of "vibe coding". Sounds like it could be creative and fun.
Which model should I use? I don't really want to sign up. Best if I can pay in sats too.
Any suggestions?
IMO the model matters less than editor integration... but that said, Claude has the network effects of optimization because of that.
The $20 Cursor plan is worth every penny, have heard good things about Windsurf also... both are forks of VSCode that integrate models well.
Cline is another option to connect models to VSCode, which I believe is just an extension.

Can you pay for Claude using Bitcoin? I tried asking Claude if I could pay for a subscription using Bitcoin and it told me that it was not able to determine that since it had no internet access.

Looks like they only take credit cards but I think ~openagents provides a wrapper and takes Bitcoin

I get pretty far with Claude free version and the canvas code editor is nicer than openAI

I think most people are using Claude but most reasoning models probably do a decent job.

I have no idea when the phrase "vibe coding" came to be, but I just recently noticed it over the last week or so.

According to Wikipedia:
The term was introduced by Andrej Karpathy in February 2025 and listed in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary the following month as a "slang & trending" noun.
I first heard it today, and it wasn't on SN, but in an email from DeepLearning.ai.

Haha. Imagine that. Thanks for sharing!

I have tested Chat GPT, Claude, Grok and DeepSeek for code.
Not Vibe coding, I lead the coding, I know what needs to be done and how, but the AI accelerates the process a lot.
In this scenario nothing beats Claude.

I went through this course yesterday and I think they were using Claude too.

That is the new Replit one.
Claude dominates with AI for code.
