Real federal auditors dont want the public to see their negligence. They have let the scam go on too long.

I do believe DOGE could be doing shady and/or foolish things.

But I would also argue that traditional audits can't really address the problems most people have with government spending. Because a traditional audit doesn't question the objective of the spending, it only seeks to root out explicitly fraudulent spending. But when people say waste fraud and abuse, they also have in mind pointless government spending objectives, like funding for transgender opera in Uganda etc

It seems like "real federal auditors" have been pretty worthless.
