Announcements

Welcome to this week’s newsletter. There is no way to sugar coat it. This was not a good week for the territory. Very few posts were made, and those got little attention. I hope this trend doesn’t continue. Even the top post was controversial. As a result, I can’t award sats to the top 5 posts of the week. The pickings are too slim. Perhaps next week will be better. Well, actually, there won’t be a newsletter next week. I will be away on a short vacation. I will make note of this week’s top posts and include them two weeks from now.
Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Notice

For the time being I am going to post a link to @supratic’s guides to attaching a wallet or node to SN directly under the Top Posts Of The Week. With the recent changes at Stacker News, everyone needs to attach an external wallet if they want to zap and receive sats on the site. Here is the link:
Thanks to everyone who has contributed, and have a good week.

Top 5 Posts Of The Week

There will be a zap award for the top 5 posts weekly. It will be broken down as follows:
  1. 1000 sats (or higher if threshold is met)
  2. 250 sats (or higher if threshold is met)
  3. 250 sats (or higher if threshold is met)
  4. 250 sats (or higher if threshold is met)
  5. 250 sats (or higher if threshold is met)
If the average daily territory income exceeds 2000 sats in a given week, THAT amount will be split among the winners.
Average daily territory income this week: Below threshold
Threshold: 2000
Posts will be judged using SN zaprank. The cut off time is 9:00am EST (1300GMT) Friday morning. I will post the top 5 winners shortly after 9:00am every Friday morning.
I reserve the right to not award any sats for the week. I also reserve the right to deny sat awards to bare link posts. I recognize that link posts can be valuable, so I will only only exercise discretion for low quality links that garner few sats or engagement from stackers.

The White Paper

Everyone knows about the white paper, but have you read it? Here is the pdf.

DarthCoin’s Guides

DarthCoin is a somewhat controversial figure with a manner that may take some getting used to, but I think his guides are excellent as step by step instruction. The sentence structure might be unconventional, and he may express some strong opinions, but you will learn what he has set out to teach you. Here is a link to DarthCoin’s Substack Page, where you can find all of DarthCoin’s guides: https://darthcoin.substack.com/

Rexdentron’s Ecosystem Map & Posts

@Rexdentron has created a comprehensive ecosystem map. I believe he intends to keep this list updated Beginners will benefit from checking it out, as will experienced bitcoiners.

Why Bitcoin Only

Why Bitcoin Only is a massive trove of links, where you can find just about anything you’re looking for. It’s also fun to browse around.

Top Posts Of All Time

Here you will find a few of the top posts that have been posted to this territory. I am not going to adhere to a rigid zaprank system, since my purpose is to highlight content that has educational value. I will use an informal combination of zaprank and my own evaluation. For instance, some posts, though of high quality, are solely about Stacker News, and might have more appropriately originated as a meta post.
My guess is we won't be getting too many new bitcoin beginners until the next bull run

Only 2 winners this week! Hasn't been a good week for the number of posts?
reply
Worst week ever.

I see, only 4 posts there. Overall it didn't seem to me a slow week on SN. It's really hard to digest for ~bitcoinbeginners.

I'll be posting the remaining 6 of this series elsewhere then. You say controversial, but only one voice was heard. Everyone else was just zapping it out of appreciation. >3300 sats is pretty decent for a post IMO. And one deranged person shouting shouldn't deter from that. I was contemplating quitting SN because of how aggressive that one person seems to be... But I decided to push on and not be bullied. And so I find your decision to be sad. I spent a lot of time on that post and put it in your territory intentionally because of the good vibes. I guess the vibes are gone. Adios
reply
I intentionally refuse to moderate this territory because I want the stackers to decide what is valuable through zaprank. Your post was the only one this past week deemed worthy of an award, based on zaprank. I was reflecting on the generally dismal state of the territory this past week, and my observation that your post was controversial was in that context. I'm sorry if you took it personally.

Your post was the only one this past week deemed worthy of an award, based on zaprank.
Which was withheld due to it's controversial nature? Or did I misunderstand.
To be clear, I didn't post it to win an award in your territory. It just seemed an odd way to adjudicate the situation.
If anything why not just give all the awards to me LoL...
I think me posting in your territory is generally a good thing. But feel free to disagree by withholding awards for arbitrary reasons.
Again it's all moot since it's your territory and you do what you like. I didn't even know to expect anything and as I said, twas not why I posted here
reply
Wait. Are we misunderstanding each other? I zapped your post the top award of 1000 sats!
reply
Ahh, yes I understood you to be saying something else. So yeah, a misunderstanding I suppose. Happy to keep posting here. It's my favorite territory after my own
