The fans were not happy, but the team had also moved back and forth from LA, so they were sort of used to it.
They moved because Vegas is a wealthier market and because they were in a dispute with the City of Oakland over a new stadium.

In 96, the Brisbane Bears and Fitzroy Football Club merged to form the Brisbane Lions
But that was more due to being too many teams at the time and they wanted to expand in a different state
